“The experience has been painless throughout with a real enthusiasm from Steve and all the team at Ascot Build and Design. Your guys are polite and courteous and always professional. Thank you for our wonderful home”
This project in Shepperton saw major refurbishment work and a completely new front elevation as well as extensions to the side and a new roof with a feature dressing room in the loft.
The brief of the project was to upgrade the property to suit modern living requirements but retain the original external style. Internally the original layout has been completely redesigned to give a natural flow throughout. The glorious porcelain and walnut floors running through the ground floor are cool on the eye but warm under foot with the complete underfloor heating system which has been installed throughout all three floors of the property.
The client also worried about the carbon footprint of the property. With this in mind solar panels have been installed on the roof which contributes considerably to the energy efficiency of the home. With the upgraded insulation in the roofs, floors and walls, double glazed windows and doors, and the underfloor heating, the client boasts a considerable saving on fuel bills.
The main staircase has been hand built in oak and is completely bespoke. The lounge, which is part of the side extension, boasts many features, not least the Teardrop wood burning fire which hangs from the ceiling.
Externally, the front porch has been built from reclaimed oak with features to compliment the pair of oak front doors.
The bay windows, which were a main feature of the original house, are now wider but still built with oak panelling under the windows and lead roofs.
The client wished for the garden to reflect the house creating the ‘extra room’ or ‘bringing the outside in’ as is often mentioned on television programmes like Grand Designs. The Ascot team followed the design firstly stripping back the original overgrown garden and creating a blank canvas.
The bespoke summer house was built on site as a timber frame construction, fully insulated so that it can be used as a gym throughout the year.
